Alternately you could fill the space above a single row of standard cabinets with false cabinet panels that give the appearance but not the function or cost of cabinets running all the way to the ceiling.

If the ceiling height of your kitchen is nine or ten feet the cabinetry can be treated one of two ways. For those with extra high ceilings in the kitchen those ceilings higher than 10 feet the general rule of thumb is not to take the cabinetry to the ceiling. We do apologize but we do not currently offer a 42 high cabinet in a 24 depth. We do have a 24 depth version but it is 36 wide. Mostly it brings the ceiling down. In a normal modern house with 8 ceilings i would do a 42 upper cabinet to maximize storage.

Functionally cabinets higher than 10 feet would be extremely difficult to get to and aesthetically cabinets that are too tall can overwhelm the space. Cabinets and trim go all the way to the ceiling but the cabinets will probably need to be stacked.
